Excuse my dust. I made the switch from wordpress to squarespace and I love it. I've also became a big boy and got my site off my friend cranks site and got my own web space! Woot!

Only thing that sucks is it killed all my links. Might take a little bit to fix, but until then enjoy the new gallery section its filled with lots of new art.

Lollapalooza 2008

It was a hot but beautiful Friday. I picked up a one-day pass for lollapalooza, Friday seemed to have the most bands I wanted to see and I think it was a good decision.

I got down to the show a little late, and the long line to get in made me miss "The Go Team". I was sad to miss them; I've been meaning to see them for a couple years and from what I hear they put on a fun show. But while waiting in line I ended up hearing though the fence "Yeasayer". I liked what little I heard; they had a David Byrne/Talking Head sorta sound. I'll have to look for their album at some point.

After I got in I walked around for a bit, got my bearings and a beer. I caught part of "Louis XIV", then headed down to see "Gogol Bordello". I've never really listened to them, but read enough about the band to know I wanted to see them. They where a ton fun. I had a blast listening to them. Its hard not to get sucked in to the front man Eugene Hütz as he ran across the stage playing guitar and shouting, drumming a bucket placed on top a mic, and jumping off amps. The band is an amazing mix of young and old, a very eclectic group.

After Gogol I walked past "Mates of State", I stayed for the first song. I'd seen them before and opted to see "Grizzly Bear". They are one of the main reasons I had come to the show, and they exceeded all my expectations.

They played a good mix of new material and stuff off "Yellow House". I love what I've heard from there up coming album. \"Two Weeks\" (linked from www.youaintnopicasso.com) is one of my current favorites. It’s a song I can listen to over and over again.

It was hard to believe they could sound that good live. It was very well mixed and they where able to sound incredibly full. It was super great to finally get to see them. They currently hold a spot of one of my favorite bands.

After "Grizzly Bear" I went back down to one of the main stages to see "Block Party". I missed the first part, but I really liked what I saw. Was a good time. I was mainly trying to get a good spot for "Radiohead". After "Block Party" I made a really bad decision to try to move a round a little. I ended up with an ok spot, but my first space was much better.

I cant really say much about "Radiohead" except they where amazing. It’s taken me 15 years to finally see them, and they ruled. They played a lot of favorites from a bunch of there albums, was a nice mix of songs. Really amazing light show, and at one point fireworks blasted off behind the stage during "fake plastic trees", I might have shed a tear.

Over all I'm pretty happy I went, was a good time. Only thing that sucked was I never found any of my friends at the show, combination of packed crowds and no phone signal made it kinda lonely.

10K Hits! Updated

Sometime between yesterday and today a video we made 2 years ago hit 10,000 hits. Now thats not a huge number for the internet, but in general I find it exciting that something I worked on was viewed by ten thousand people. Kinda amazing.

If you haven't seen it, check it out.

It was the 2006 Audience Award Winner for group B in the chicago 48 hour film project.

Also I totally forgot to post that this years video for chicago 48 hour film project did amazingly well. It won "Audience Award", "Best use of 48 hfp Elements", "Best use of Character" and the judge awarded "Best film". I'm really proud of how we did and we really owe everything to are actors Bryan Applegate, Emmi Chen and Kat Steffens. They are super awesome and did a great job.

I'll post the video again, take a look is you haven't watched it yet.

If you can't...

It's been super busy, not even joking. Dare I say I have had to much going on.

Some highlights:

1. Birthday. I turned 29 on monday. It was a really nice day. I went in to work for a bit, had lunch. Then I headed down to the movies and saw "OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies", really fun 60's style spy flick. Then I hit a book store and a couple record stores. Then that night a bunch of friends came out and had dinner and drinks. Was a really good turn out. Nice to see so many people come out for me.

2. Mini-Comic. Finished a small little mini comic for wizard world chicago. Here is the cover.
They are free, and if you would like one, email me. All I ask for will be a self address envelope with a stamp and I'll send you one.
